Amelia’s Equestrian Senior Session: One Girl, One Horse, One Big Future

One of my favorite things about being an equine photographer in St. Augustine, FL is getting to follow along as my clients grow and celebrate life’s big moments—and Amelia’s senior portrait session at M&M Training was definitely one of those.

I’ve photographed Amelia and her stunning horse Toto several times over the years, and it’s always a treat. This time, we were marking a huge milestone: Amelia is graduating in the top 3% of her county’s seniors and is heading off to Cornell University. She’s the kind of young woman who reminds you just how determined, talented, and well-rounded horse girls can be.

Amelia also plays the flute, so of course we included that in her equestrian senior portraits, mixing her love of music and horses in a way that felt perfectly her. She had hair and makeup done on-site at the barn by Kira from Onsite Muse, which made for a relaxing, stress-free start to the session—and meant every look was picture-perfect.

And she had several looks to show off. We started with her elegant equestrian show outfit, then moved into a few beautiful spring dresses, a relaxed jeans-and-boots look, and finally her stunning prom dress. I’m a big fan of getting one more wear out of a dress that special.

We made full use of the M&M Training property, which is one of my favorite spots to shoot in Northeast Florida. The curved entry road makes for perfect leading lines, and the ancient oak trees and reflective pond gave us everything we needed for portraits that felt timeless and personal.

At her viewing and ordering appointment, Amelia and her family chose to create a gorgeous heirloom album that included all of her favorite images. They also selected a framed Guild Canvas finished as a painted portrait, which is now a true piece of art they’ll enjoy for years to come.
