There is something really special about photographing someone in the place where they feel most at home. For Mary Crawford, that place is the barn. I met MC and her horse King at M and M Training in North St. Augustine to create her equestrian senior portraits, and the goal was to capture the everyday moments that mean the most.

We started the session with hair and makeup by Kira at Onsite Muse, done right at the barn. MC brought three thoughtful looks that gave us a variety of portraits. Her first outfit was a polished equestrian look with breeches, tall boots, and an adorable sweater. The second was a casual and comfortable corduroy slacks-and-vest combo that fit the relaxed feel of the farm to perfection. Her final look was a long flowing skirt with a simple tank that added a soft, elegant touch to her portraits.

We began in the barn aisle, where MC spends so much of her time with King bathing, grooming, tacking and just hanging out. Her family wanted her senior portraits to reflect real life, so that is exactly where we started. From there, we explored the property. We took portraits in the tall grass behind the barn, around the large pond while watching out for any unexpected gators, down the winding driveway, and under the oak trees in the old eventing field just as the sun began to set.

At the viewing and ordering appointment, MC and her family selected a digital collection of their favorite images. They will use them for graduation announcements and plan to create artwork once their new home is finished.
