Pickles the Pony: A Sweet Session for the Conte Family in Ormond Beach, FL

Some ponies leave hoofprints on your heart, and Pickles is one of them. The Conte family reached out to me for an equine photography session to celebrate their beloved senior pony, Pickles, who has brought so much joy to their family over the years.

We met at a charming little private farm in Ormond Beach, Florida where Pickles lives. It was the perfect setting for a session full of cute kiddo giggles and fuzzy pony ears. We began with classic black background studio portraits, capturing all of Pickles’ personality and character. Then we added a holiday touch with a few portraits featuring a festive Christmas garland for the family’s holiday cards. All three Conte kids joined in for a few images with their favorite pony, and their snuggle with him was the highlight of the session.

After the session, we met for their viewing and ordering appointment where the family selected one of the most stunning framed Guild Canvases for their new home. The final image they chose features Pickles at his most handsome, and it turned out beautifully.

When I delivered the artwork, I gently unboxed the canvas in their living room. The whole family gathered around to see it for the first time. Watching their reaction as they saw their pony’s portrait brought me so much joy and reminded me why I do this work.

This is what boutique equine photography means to me. It’s not just about taking pictures. It’s about preserving the relationship between horses and the people who love them.
