I was beyond excited to meet with Addie and her mother, Khela to start the planning process for Addie’s horse photography session with her newly leased horse, Cruze. Addie and Cruze spend their days at Peak Performance Horses, so it was the perfect location for their photography session. On the day of the session, the weather was bleak looking. Very overcast, windy, with a chance of rain. Well rain it sure did! The rain didn’t stop Addie and Cruze from having fun and finishing their session together. I don’t photograph a ton of equine events these days, but when I do it’s usually for our local horse council. I love spending time at the St Johns County Horse Council events and specifically the fun shows! If egg and spoon is a class on the show bill, then I want to be there! Earlier this year I photographed Rhylie with her family at Need More Land and Cattle Co. located in St. Johns, Florida. A full equestrian family portrait was one of our goals for this session and we nailed it by including Rhylie’s mom, Joni and her brother, Marek and of course horse, Brownie and her two dogs, Rocko and Rollo. Images from this session were used to create a mantle piece family portrait in a beautiful handmade frame and additional print products including the sweetest holiday card!

Maybe you are like me. Lucky enough to own and spend time with horses… You have a bond with your four-legged’s, many go their life without. You embrace the sheer pleasure of horse and human connection.
But — THIS cowgirl and her horse exhibit the kind of wild freedom that doesn’t get to belong to many folks… and even for those who it does belong to… it doesn’t seem to last for long.

A few weeks after we completed their equine and equestrian portrait session we met to review their images and create their final product. This is always so much fun! We created a small three piece gallery wall grouping and an incredible framed portrait with the most stunning Farmhouse Frame! This frame is gorgeous and features dark brown, caramel and cream accents with a ton of texture! Made from weathered Oak and is sturdy and unique! This frame frequently arrives to my studio with featuring lichen…. which is absolutely stunning with these images!
We don’t know when things will change. But, one thing is for dang sure… WE NEED JOY! Bountiful joy and hope to carry us through life’s struggles. We need to surround ourselves with experiences that encourage our hearts.

I enjoy being who I am! I feel like God created people all different and I get to represent both black and white people because that is how he made me. I am proud of who I am and all that I have learned so far about horses. I am excited to keep learning and spending time with horses and hopefully, I can help to show other people that want to ride to ride no matter what color that they are. Maybe they will see me and know that all kinds of people can ride if you love horses.

The Closet, a locally owned boutique located in downtown St. Augustine, Florida, recently worked with Fast Horse Photography to create images showcasing some of their newest looks now available. The commercial photography shoot for The Closet was held at a gorgeous little wedding venue located right in the nations oldest city, The Carriage House. The Carriage House is a beautiful barn venue including enchanting walk-through garden, brick courtyard and farmhouse porch.
As acommercial equine photographer charged with working with horse-based business owners, I knew we needed to create marketing images that told a focused story about Thompson Therapy, the people and horses behind the brand, and the services that are unique to their program. So meeting with Ashley in advance of her commercial branding session was essential to ensure that the images we created together were consistent with her brand and message. The images must contribute to the audiences understanding of what Thompson Therapy has to offer their equine community.
Fast Horse Photography has recently joined the Equestrians of Color Photography Project (@Eocproject) whose mission is to provide a safe space for equestrians of color to feel welcomed and comfortable in front of our camera while shedding light on challenging, uplifting, and inspirational stories they wish to share. This project is so important to me, as someone who has spent many years working on social justice issues for women and children, prior to my work as an equine photographer, and I truly believe the photography industry can do more.
Recently I had the opportunity to photograph Amelia with her horse, Lightly Frosted. We had a beautiful session at M & M Training located right here in North St. Augustine, Florida.
